What does the formula ColBalance® contain?
Each ColBalance® capsule contains concentrated dried extracts of fenugreek (deodorized), turmeric, ginger, olive leaves. black pepper and a small amount of antiaggregants (tricalcium phosophate and silica). The highly concentrated herbal extracts work in synergy to enhance the bioavailability and the effectiveness of the formula.
Each capsule of ColBalance® contains active ingredients equivalent to 24 teaspoons of the minced dried plant.

When shall I see and feel the results?
The mechanism of action of herbs is totally different from that of chemical drugs. Herbs work their magic gradually, they start their influence from the first moment of consumption, but results can be seen in blood tests only after three months of daily use. How do we know that? The Herbal Extracts in ColBalance®:
Fenugreek seeds are known for their medicinal properties for thousands of years in Ayurvedic, Chinese, Arabian and Greek medicines. The Fenugreek seeds contain steroidal saponins which inhibit cholesterol absorption in the intestines and cholesterol production by the liver.
One of the compounds isolated from fenugreek seeds is an amino acid derivative called 4 hydroxyisoleucine. This compound was found in researches to lower serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels and increase HDL-cholesterol by 31%. It was also found to be a protective agent for the liver. One human study found that fenugreek can help lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels in people with moderate atherosclerosis and non-insulin-dependent (type 2) diabetes. Obesity (Silver Spring). 2010 Apr;18(4):667-74
Fenugreek seeds are rich in soluble and insoluble fiber. According to researchers, the high soluble fiber content blocks cholesterol absorption – the soluble fiber binds to cholesterol in the digestive system and drags it out of the body.
Is the fenugreek extract indeed deodorized?
The strong odor secreted from the body due to regular use of fenugreek deters people from using it. In order to overcome this problem, our R&D team developed a special process for separating and concentrating saponin, the active ingredient in the fenugreek. The final extract is highly concentrated yet lacks the strong typical odor.
Israeli researchers have found that ginger extract can have dramatic effects of cardiovascular health, including preventing atherosclerosis, lowering cholesterol levels, and preventing the oxidation of low density lipoprotein (LDL). The study's results showed:
- Reductions in plasma triglycerides and cholesterol (by 27% and 29%, respectively)
- Reductions in VLDL cholesterol by 53%
- Reductions in LDL cholesterol by 33%
- Reduced LDL oxidation and aggregation
According to the researchers, oxidative damage of LDL plays a key role in the development of atherosclerosis. The consumption of ginger extract, nutrients rich in phenolic antioxidants, has been shown to be associated with slowing down the development of atherosclerosis. One of the active constituent of olive leaf is Oleuropein. This strong antioxidant was reported, by a team of Korean researchers, to have protective effects against non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. The oleuropein reduced the expression of a number of hepatic genes involved in the oxidative stress responses and detoxification of lipid peroxidation products and proinflammatory cytokine genes. Studies have shown that olive leaf extract can reduce LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and lower mild blood pressure.
A study conducted in Tunisia by a group of 4 researcheres shows that Administration of polyphenol-rich olive leaf extracts significantly lowered the serum levels of triglycerides and LDL-Cholesterol and increased the serum level of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). Oxidation of LDL Cholesterol and its accumulation in the arteries is harmful because it can lead to inflammation in the arteries. Iranian researchers from Razi Herbal Medicine Research Center in Lorestan University at Khoramaba induced oxidation in blood samples taken from 10 male participants. After adding various concentrations of olive leaf extract to the samples, they found that markers of LDL oxidation decreased significantly. Curcumin, the active component in Turmeric's rhizome, is one of the most studied and researched herbal extracts nowadays. Its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities are very important for hyperlipidemics. The antioxidant effect of curcumin inhibits lipid peroxidation and prevents the oxidation of LDL cholesterol. This is important for cardiovascular health because oxidized LDL cholesterol is responsible for the clogging and thickening of the arteries
Curcumin also increases the population of receptors for LDL cholesterol in the liver. This effect directly increases the breakdown of LDL cholesterol and the reduction of blood cholesterol levels
The active compound extracted from black pepper is called piperine. Piperine is mainly antiseptic in nature, but a research conducted in Japan several years ago has shown another aspect of it: piperine enhances curcumin's bioavailability by 2000% as well as other herbal extracts.
Glucuronidation is part of the metabolism process in our body. During this process substances become water soluble in order to facilitate their excretion from the body.
The bioavailability of Curcumin is very low, meaning it is excreted from the body very quickly. Piperine inhibits the Glucuronidation of curcumin, thus allowing curcumin more time in the body to leave its beneficial marks.
Thanks to the piperine, the herbal extracts of the formula are better absorbed in the intestine, thus allowing them to clean the liver and the blood vessels from toxins and the result is, of course, a better blood circulation.
